...

Wake

gently this morning

to a different day.

Listen

There is no bray

of buses,

no horns blow.

There is only

the silence

of a city

hushed

with snow...

Introduction

They said, “Introduce yourself.”
It set me thinking, which facet of mine?
I am confused, not for identity crisis,
But for multiple identities.

Many roles I play, many facets I have-
A daughter, a sister, a friend, a beloved, a wife,
A learner, a follower, a leader, a teacher,
A motivator, a guide, a mentor.

As you behold, so you find.
Which face of mine shall I unwind?
I succeed at some fronts, fail at a few,
Then rise again to do the due.

For three and a half decades I have tread
In the lands and the hearts that many have dread.
Over the mounts, in the deserts, on the sand dunes
Where gigantic waves play life’s richest tunes.

Stealing some laughter, in struggle to survive,
Much more to learn, harder yet to strive.
Meeting expectation, fulfilling demand.
Yet, a bit for myself I do command.

Many lives I live in a solitary day,
You can identify me in the roles I play.
All roles integrated make me complete,
And thus, I live, a life bitter...sweet.
